Have you ever gotten up in the morning, opened your closet, and suddenly you’re overwhelmed and you are just like dam, I need to just get into an outfit and go on with my day? When you feel like just getting into your outfit, but you want to look stylish, that’s where signature style comes in. Both personal style and signature style are similar terms in the fashion industry, but how I see it is, that they differ in approach and application. Personal style is a border reflection of one’s personality, lifestyle, and preference whereas daily style is a consistent look that people tend to wear regularly such as a uniform or styling each garment similarly every day. Here the difference comes in when a person has a completely different personal style but tends to wear only certain elements of his personal style on the daily signature style.
How can we now develop a signature style? The first thing is to understand your taste, and your personality as u need to be empowered by what you’re wearing. There is no greater feeling than wearing an outfit you know you look good. Second what u wear reflects your personality and your taste so if u go to a meeting the way u dress up shows a lot about your personality, taste, and ethics. Thirdly it saves you time and money, by this I mean that when you know what will enhance your personality you just stop buying garments that do not complement you at all.
You can make your signature style by searching or crawling on apps such as Pinterest and watching out for what attracts you and then try to style it on your body type, find whether it compliments your body or not, Look out in your closet, and see what you don’t wear or avoid wearing, then decide what is your style is. The most important thing is to experiment and not be afraid to try different things. Start by finding pieces that make you feel confident, then slowly mix in styles you’re curious about. Over time, you’ll figure out what feels most like “you.” What compliments you, what highlights your personality. Also, consider your lifestyle, and body shape when building your wardrobe – what works for one might not work for another, and that’s okay. Stick with what makes you comfortable and happy, and that will naturally shape your unique style. Choose your color theory but keep your skin tone in mind at that time, as when you wear a particular color to your skin tone it could enhance your overall look or spoil it, for example, pastel colors can make most the brown skin people look ashy but if you put a pastel color on a cool skin tone it makes the person look more glowing. So you need to know your skin tone well, if u have a cool undertone then u can go for colors like pink, purple, blue, pastel colors green and if u have a warm undertone then go for solid colors such as black, navy blue, dark red, yellow, khaki, brown color. If u have natural color tones most colors will suit you. Last but not least don’t forget to accessories for your outfit because sometimes your outfit is the most basic thing but a pair of accessories can change it completely. After following these steps get your shortlisted garments pair them with other garments and see what best suits you, here your signature style is ready…
